I loved this film and I get how they could work as companion pieces, but I'm just not sure I can appreciate The Wrestler as much as some people. Might watch it again sometime to give it another chance, but Black Swan totally tops it in my books. Fantastic cinema. :DLaura Crowellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18329293378976431049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368571080288311958.post-55937128779391856732011-01-29T16:33:56.225-07:002011-01-29T16:33:56.225-07:00Oh man, I didn't even catch the nail file thin...Oh man, I didn't even catch the nail file thing. I was watching to try and figure out the boundaries started, too--is the cab ride scene totally hallucination? Are Lily and Tomas actually having sex on the side of the stage? I also noticed the use of the goose/swan pimples so much more the second time around.

I had heard they were companion pieces. I tried to watch the Wrestler, though, and couldn't get through it, so I'm really glad he separated them . . .g+mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16149708861591126952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368571080288311958.post-62962441773109196612011-01-29T15:59:57.569-07:002011-01-29T15:59:57.569-07:00I thought Black Swan was beautiful and saw it twic...I thought Black Swan was beautiful and saw it twice in a matter of days, unable to get that wing-unfolding dance scene at the end out of my head and wanting to pick up on the zillions of things I missed the first time around. (i.e. Did Nina's mom acknowledge Lily in any way the night Nina brought her home? When Nina's holding on to the nail file in the elevator, is it because she was the one who did that to Beth?)

Gah, I love it so much it's hard to think about it. Did you hear it was originally supposed to be part of The Wrestler? They were supposed to be combined into one film. And while I think that's genius on one level, it really deserved to be its own movie.Unapologetically Mundanehttp://www.unapologeticallymundane.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368571080288311958.post-88057420479178952182011-01-25T19:35:12.751-07:002011-01-25T19:35:12.751-07:00Sigh. At the very least, Sass, we could never be roommates--although to be honest, that doesn't surprise me, and it's not as though it were a likely possibility to begin with.

I won't hold it against you, though. ^^;g+mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16149708861591126952noreply@blogger.com
